  2. She gave her first performance at the age of 4 at the Dallas Theater Center and The Black Academy of Arts and Letters (TBAAL).
  3. She changed her name to Erykah as she believed Erica was a “slave name” while her last name “Badu” is adopted from jazz scat sound.
